There are songs that when you close your eyes,
they become people.

Hay canciones que al cerrar los ojos,
se convierten en personas.

Sitting and listening to one of those beautiful melodies that transport me back in time, while waiting for my afternoon coffee, is automatically evoking happy times in my life.
A lot of time has passed since then and music has the power to awaken those emotions, stirring feelings that oscillate between joy and sadness, times and experiences. It also has the power to reactivate sensations, closing your eyes, listening to the melody, and going back to that time when you were happy or maybe sad.
Music is a powerful weapon, a good for humanity. With music we are lulled from our mother's womb, when longing and anxious she sings to us with her sweet voice, already wishing to see our little face in the light of the world that surrounds her.
With music we have been happy and listening to the notes of a song that accompanied us in some beautiful moment of our life, simply makes us smile because we feel there again.
Only music has that magical power, the power to enter our soul and stay there waiting for the precise moment to jump out making us happy or sad as it was back then.
My history with music is very atypical. In my family, there are a lot of musicians in all generations. Fathers and sons, my cousins, uncles, but, on my side (and mind you, I am not a musician, I just like to sing from time to time), my history or contact with music has been through my father, my brothers and, the one I have lived most closely, with my son.
My father was a musician par excellence. He loved the music of my country. He played several musical instruments such as the cuatro, the guitar, and, his always favorite, the mandolin. I always remember him with nostalgia in many songs that now are evocations and take me to his presence through time. Listening to those melodies makes me close my eyes and be with him in the memories. Magical weekend afternoons between songs and smiles. It is always nice to go back to that time.
Nostalgia Andina, with the Venezuelan group Serenata Guayanesa, automatically brings back many memories to my mind and soul. Memories that (almost always) make a tear roll down my cheeks. Tears of absence and nostalgia for those moments with the music and my father. Como llora una estrella, was another of his favorite melodies. El Limonero, Bambuco Zuliano. Many beautiful Venezuelan melodies bring automatic evocations.
My siblings Fernando and Maria Fernanda, play musical instruments and were part of the National Orchestra System in my country. Fernando played the French Horn and also the Venezuelan cuatro and some mandolin. Maria Fernanda, with her magic guitar, delighted us with beautiful melodies. But the real musical story of my life has been through my only son, Gabriel.
Gabriel entered the world of music from a very young age (three years old). I have always been a faithful believer that music makes people better and that, being musicians or being related to this art, they vibrate in another frequency of life at an emotional and spiritual level.
Gabriel studied mandolin and choral singing. He also studied some recorder and keyboard. Among his future acquisitions and learning, is the Saxophone, another fabulous instrument that makes us fly in the air listening to its notes.

For some time (almost ten years), he was in a music school where I had the opportunity to accompany him in his training and concerts. A unique experience that also positively marked me, very definitive in my life as a mother and as a human being. To attend every afternoon to accompany Gabriel to his classes and in each concert to live the experience of a proud mother is priceless and feeds my best memories.
Blessed music and blessed beings make it possible for us to be happy remembering and reliving. To all the singers of the world and especially of our hive, long life, and many blessings.
Today I thought of music and felt very fortunate to be here among so much talent.
