The above picture was taken by Kevin Carter in 1993 when he went to take shots of the suffering in Southern Sudan.

In this ICONIC picture: An emaciated, weakened Sudanese toddler crawling to a UN food centre nearby.
A plump scavenging vulture waiting for the child to die so it can feed on the carcass.

Kelvin Carter claimed he chased away the vulture but didn't pick up/help the toddler and couldn't say what happened to her thereafter,he said, she probably didn't make it to the feeding centre.

He just went closer, took this iconic shot, chased the vulture away and left the suffering toddler to her fate. He sold this particular picture to the New York times, won a Pulitzer prize for it.

Kevin committed suicide 3 months after, he confided in his close friends, regretting: “I’m really, really sorry I didn’t pick the child up." He was haunted, lived a miserable life for months, he took his own life when his guilt overwhelmed him.

Whenever I come across this legendary picture I usually have mixed feelings about it,
Firstly
This picture aid to expose the suffering, the pain and agony people in war torn countries go through especially in Africa.

Secondly
I think he ought to help, at least to get the dying toddler to the feeding centre, buh he was probably occupied with many things, forgetting this was the most important, saving life is the most important.

Our prime purpose in this life is to help others, and if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them. Having a heart to help the needy, the grace to transform and positively impact lives is something that should tear our flesh and give us deep concern.

But what are your responsibilities when human life/suffering is at stake?
In the event of an accident, a terrorist attack, sexual assault or what not, there is much more you can do.

Pictures/Videos can be very powerful especially when proving or disproving atrocities but we as human kind need not forget our obligation to each other.

We have millions of young people looking for a helping hand to raise their feeble hands, we have many who unforseen circumstances have rendered homeless without a shelter over their head.
And I've learnt to serve and defend humanity in my own little way.
