A Malian woman named Halima Cisse gave birth to nine babies on Tuesday. This miracle happened when she was actually expecting septuplets, but nature decided it had some remaining cards under its sleeve.

The five girls and four boys could put themselves in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest number of babies in a single birth to survive.

There was another birth announced in 2014 of a mother who gave birth to 17 babies at once, but it turned out to be a hoax.

There is also a set of septuplets who successfully lived into adulthood, born to Bobbi and Kenny McCaughey nine weeks earlier than expected on Nov 19, 1997.
