Today I'm sharing another photograph taken of my friend Kim taken in Belgium again, but this time in a gigantic abandoned limestone quarry as part of a meet up with 40 lightpainters from around the world.
This place is so large it’s hard to comprehend, upon turning each corner of the labyrinth of passages, your greeted with another cathedral high ceiling of cut limestone and a vista that almost seems to descend fully into the very depth of the earth....truly breathtaking to behold and witness and a perfect light-painting playground as it’s pitch black in the day too :)
Another lens swap here,first I’ve framed up a black fibre optic with a colour torch on purple, exposed that to the camera for a couple of seconds with a 50mm lens and then capped the lens,and then swapped over to the Samyang 8mm fisheye to ensure I capture as much of the quarry as possible. I’ve backlit Kim and spun some lit Steelwool behind her, then returned to the camera capped the lens, and rotated the camera 180 degrees and then I’ve repeated the processed, this time back lighting kim with a different gel colour before spinning wool for the second time.
A great way to start the meet up proceedings in this amazing place.
I really liked the almost graphical/ manga quality to the shot which is caused by the fibre part interacting with the rest of the exposure.
