Financial stress is something that affects almost every student, except if you're from a well-to-do background. But for someone like me who's a student, I can tell now stressful and frustrating it can be. To even read at times become a problem, because how will you read on an empty stomach. Instead of focusing on how to come out with good grades and read, you're there wondering if you will even write the exam since you haven't paid for the school fee or even buy any of the materials and handouts you will be needing for the session.
Most of the time I sit down and open my book before me, you will think I'm actually reading, but then I'm actually calculating expenses in my head. There are times 2k is so big that I start thinking of the best way e split it to make sure I at least eat and get something in school with it as well. There are times I even feel guilty for sitting or resting, I'd feel there could be something I can do or engage myself in just to earn money. I know a lot of people will be able to relate to this.
Also, we'd think it's because we are in school, but then life inside and outside of school aren't that different. Both can be very demanding. A lot of us are trying to balance work with school activities. Some of us aren't just balancing it between both, we are also trying to balance it with personal struggles, health challenges and family responsibilities.
But then, we can't leave one for one, and we can't give it all our 100 or even 50:50, nah. The only thing that has been helping me and is important is to set things right and in order of priority. So, when it's time for academics I try to give it my all, when it's work time I do my best to focus. Because I can't give up on any. If I let go of work how do I earn money to sort school billing and all, if I let go of my academics how will that help me or solve my financial situation.
Also, learn to not compare yourself to others. I saw a post recently with the caption, "you might know a person's occupation and not know their source of income." So true. A lot of people are into various things underneath that they would never make known. And our journeys are different, so focus on yours and move at your own pace.
So, if you're a student and you come across this, I understand and know so well what you're feeling and passing through. Just keep on going, don't give up, your present situation won't define your future, you yourself get to do that. So, keep it up, I'm sure your efforts will pay off very soon. Picture that life you want for yourself and continue working towards it...
