I have been having a lot of back and forth in my thoughts today, and I can't help but pen down some of it. One of which is if I could sit down with my younger self and have a one-on-one conversation with him. Honestly, I have a lot to say; obviously, I've heard a lot of experiences, so there's definitely a lot to share with him.
First, I would like to tell my younger self not to be in a hurry to grow up. Yeah, I know we all will eventually become adults, but for me, I was just too eager to. I felt being an adult means you've gotten everything figured out, so I really didn't make that much use of childhood; maybe I didn't realize that work actually needs to start right from childhood, and also you need to enjoy your childhood too, because adulthood, which we thought comes with freedom at the end of the day, wouldn't give you that luxury, as there are a lot of responsibilities that come with it.
Also, I will love to tell him that same way you have your own plans in the same way life has it's own plans for you, and your plans won't always be the same. Yeah, some of your plans will fail, some will go down the drain, some will make you question everything that surrounds you, and some will definitely go the way you want them to.
To add to that, I would like my younger self to know that in life our times are different. So don't even compare your win in chapter two to someone else's chapter ten. Our journeys are different, and because someone else seems to be running when you're crawling doesn't mean you're not doing enough. It is just their own time to run and be up there. Your time will come too, so don't give up; don't get involved in trash or stuff that isn't legit, but keep going, be consistent, and believe in yourself.
My younger self as well needs to know that his parents want his best for him. All of their cautionings, corrections, discipline and all are all done from a place of love. So, listen to them, appreciate them, love them, understand them, and don't take them for granted. When you grow older, you will understand better and be glad you don't take them for granted. To add to that, please be kind. The world we live in today isn't that good, but despite whatever, make sure to be a good and kind guy. Help when you can, show up when you can, and do not look down on anyone.
In conclusion, take things easy with yourself and make sure to heed to all of my words. I may not know it all, but these things I share with you won't in any way derail you. Keep going. Don't give up. And always remember that you've survived difficult days before, so nothing is enough to pull you down.
