For me, if I met my younger self, especially my childhood self, I would tell him to stop being anxious about trying to get everything.
You know, when I was a child, my mother was very strict with me. She wouldn't allow me to go around messing about with other children. Don't go to this place, don't go to that place, don't go anywhere. She was very strict and always wanted me to stay in one place.
And honestly, I used to feel very disturbed because I would see other children going wherever they wanted and doing whatever they wanted to do. But I would just be indoors, watching and worrying about why I couldn't do the same things they were doing.
So, if I had the opportunity to meet my younger self, I would tell him not to worry too much. There is a time coming when you will be allowed to do the things you want to do and go wherever you want to go. You will have the freedom you have always wanted. So, don't be in a hurry to experience everything. Your time will come.
And this also applies to material things. You know, when we were growing up, whenever someone's parents bought something for them, we would go home and start crying for our own parents to buy us the same thing.
I remember that I would go and disturb my mother. She must buy this thing for me. And if she refused, I wouldn't eat. I would just keep crying until sometimes she had no choice but to buy it for me. Other times, she would beat me, and I would still continue crying.
So, I would tell my younger self that this is not how to do things. There is time for everything. All these things I used to cry and disturb my mother to buy for me are now things I can afford to buy for other children.
I would also tell myself to learn to be content. Whenever I asked my mother to do something for me and she told me she didn't have the money, I would get angry. I didn't understand why she couldn't just get it for me.
But growing up, I have come to understand what parents go through just to provide for their children. I now understand that sometimes it is not that they don't want to give you what you ask for; they simply don't have the means to do so.
So, I would tell my younger self to calm down, be content, and understand that not everything you want must be given to you immediately. There is a time for everything.
