As people get older and the days wear on, it is more and more difficult to maintain a high level of energy. A high work load, full life and bad habits can make a very busy, challenging schedule even harder to manage. As life goes on, there are only more priorities, more things to do and more people to consider. Having enough energy to tackle all of your responsibilities is the foundation to getting things done, so here are a few tips to help maintain your energy and accomplish all of your priorities for the day:
Limit Screen Time
According to Dr. Marc Bergman , a neuroscientist at the University of Michigan, television is not as restful of an activity as many believe it to be. And as you age, television and phones have fewer and fewer stress reducing benefits. Instead of engaging with a screen to unwind, read, talk with a friend or partner, workout, go on a walk or have a glass of wine. Disconnecting from technology and help clear your mind before bed, improving the quality of your sleep and increasing your energy.
Exercise
Even though instincts say when you鈥檙e exhausted at the end of the day to skip the work out, it is wrong. Exercise gives you energy. According to Harvard Medical School, exercise helps you sleep more soundly, circulate oxygen and gives your cells more energy to burn. Exercise also helps release stress. The article recommends starting with a brisk walk during the day, and work toward light cardio and weight lifting to feel more energized ultimately throughout the day.
