MyGreetings everyone, I welcome you all to my blog.
It's another great day to listen to the word of God by his servant Bro Eli Soriano
Many parents in the Bible took time to mentor their children and intentionally passed down their faith, something we still look to today as an example. Couples like Abraham and Sarah, or Joseph and Mary, guided their children so well that their destinies were not derailed by a lack of direction or protection.
According to the book of James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also."
These parents taught their children to know God, and that foundation made the journey of their lives meaningful, steady, and aligned with God’s purpose. Today, many young people grow up without that same spiritual grounding. As a result, some begin to question the existence of God or rely solely on scientific explanations for life, something that could have been avoided with proper guidance from home.
This is why it’s important to teach our children the way of the Lord. When they grow older or even when we are no longer present, the lessons we plant in them will continue to guide their steps. John 6:63 “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."
Passing faith to the next generation is similar to teaching someone a skill you’ve mastered. When you share your knowledge with someone who knows little or nothing about it, you become their guide just like an expert carpenter, engineer, or artist teaching an apprentice. But how can we pass on genuine knowledge if we ourselves are not rooted in it? Do we transfer true wisdom or continue spreading ignorance?
The same applies to spirituality. We cannot give our children a faith that we ourselves do not nurture. If our spiritual “jar” is empty, there is nothing meaningful for us to pour into others. Cold water cannot produce hot food unless it was first heated elsewhere. In the same way, children may end up receiving authentic faith from outsiders if their parents fail to give them one.
Parents are the first models and teachers their children look up to whether for good or for bad. Parents are like trees, and their children are the fruits they bear. If we truly desire to pass on faith, then God’s word must live in us deeply so that what we hand over to our children is not a weak or decayed version of the truth.
