If you are a man, the person God intends for you is a wise and prudent wife. Likewise, if you are a woman, the one God has chosen for you is a prudent husband. But how can you know if your boyfriend or girlfriend is truly meant for you by God?
Proverbs 19:14 says that houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife comes from the Lord. This shows that a good and wise partner is a gift from God. A prudent husband or wife does not just appear by chance; their character reflects wisdom that comes from God, and it is your responsibility to examine this and make a careful decision.
True prudence is not based on worldly thinking, but on wisdom that comes from God. The Bible speaks about spiritual matters, not merely human intelligence or worldly caution. In 1 Corinthians 1:19, it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise and bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.”
This teaches us that not every person who seems wise by worldly standards truly has God’s wisdom. When Scripture speaks of a prudent wife or husband, it refers to prudence that comes from the Lord. Therefore, you must be sure that your partner’s character and wisdom come from God if you want to know that he or she is truly meant for you.
