Alice sat on the edge of her bed, staring at the packed suitcases in front of her. It was the start of a new chapter in her life, and she was determined to make the most of it.
She had spent the last year healing from a heartbreak, and she was finally ready to move on. She had always been a dreamer, and she had always wanted to go to college, so when the opportunity presented itself, she jumped at the chance. She also believed it was fate that led to the breakup because her boyfriend who just broke up with her wanted her to be close to him all the time instead of chasing her dreams of going to school. So now she was single again, she believed it was a sign from the universe to chase a new chapter of her life.
As she loaded her car and set off on the long drive to her new school, Alice couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nerves. She knew that college would be a challenge, but she was ready for it. She was ready to immerse herself in her studies and build a new life for herself.
As the weeks went by, Alice threw herself into her studies and made new friends. She was amazed at how much she had to learn and how much there was to discover. She loved the feeling of being immersed in a new world, and she found herself loving college more and more every day. Although she was still trying to heal from her past.
As she reached the end of her first semester, the college management increased the tuition fee and this enraged the students that they organized a protest just weeks before the exam. Alice, knowing she was not a trust fund kid, opted to join the protest. She had always been passionate about social justice, and she couldn't resist getting involved.
There was something about the way the sun shone through the trees on the day of the protest that made it feel like anything was possible. Alice had always been a believer of fate, and to her that was a sign. She still believed in love and she knew it would come at the right time. She had been at college for a few months now, and while she had made some great friends and had a lot of fun, she had yet to meet the love of her life.
As she walked through the leafy quad of her college campus, she couldn't help but feel like something big was about to happen. Like she was fated for a new positive chapter in her life. She had always been a believer in fate, and she knew that when the time was right, the universe would bring her the person she was meant to be with.
As she walked through the quad, she saw a group of people huddled around a table, and she couldn't help but be drawn to them. She made her way over and saw that they were handing out flyers for the protest on campus.
As she reached out to take a flyer, she accidentally brushed against the hand of the person next to her, and she felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She looked up and saw a handsome young man with piercing blue eyes and a warm smile.
"I'm sorry," Alice stammered, feeling her face flush.
"No problem," the man replied, his voice deep and reassuring. "I'm Jack."
"I'm Alice," she said, shaking his hand.
The two of them talked for a few minutes about the protest and other causes they were passionate about, and Alice couldn't believe how easily they connected. She had always been shy and reserved, but with Jack, she felt like she could be herself.
As the protest got underway, Alice and Jack found themselves walking side by side, their shoulders brushing as they marched through the campus. Alice felt her heart race as she looked up at Jack and saw the determination in his eyes.
After the protest was over, Alice and Jack walked back to their dorms together, still chatting about the issues that mattered to them. As they reached her dorm, Alice hesitated for a moment, wondering if she should invite him up.
"I had a really great time today," Jack said, seeming to read her thoughts. "Can I take you out for coffee or something sometime?"
Alice couldn't believe her luck. She had met the most amazing guy on the planet, and he was interested in her. She smiled up at him and nodded.
"I'd love that," she said, her heart beating fast.
Over the next few weeks, Alice and Jack spent every free moment together, exploring the campus and the city and getting to know each other better. Alice couldn't believe how perfectly they fit together, and she knew that Jack was the man she was meant to be with.
As the end of the semester approached, Alice and Jack made the decision to move in together. They found a cozy apartment off campus and settled in, excited to start their new life together.
As the years went by, Alice and Jack's love only grew stronger. They graduated from college and started their careers, always supporting each other and cheering each other on. They traveled the world and faced challenges together, always coming out stronger on the other side.
On their tenth anniversary, Jack surprised Alice with a trip to the beach, and as they walked along the shore, he got down on one knee and pulled out a small box.
"Alice, I've loved you from the moment I met you on that quad all those years ago," he said, his eyes shining with emotion. "You're the love of my life, and I can wait to wake up everyday to your beautiful face" he paused and swallowed hard. "Be my wife," he concluded.
Now Alice was sitting on the porch looking over her gardens and the grandkids with a picture of her wedding day in her hands. Relieving on old memories with the man of her dreams who the strong hands of death snatched him from her a few years ago.
Was it fate or her destiny to meet her husband after a bitter heartbreak?. She couldn't tell, but whatever it was she really was thankful.
