Just like everyone out there. Man and woman, our future is something that at one point or the other we ponder on how it'll be. Nobody will deny the fact that sometimes it bothers us. It is just like a looming presence in our life that we never can escape from, except maybe death takes place. So it comes to us with many concerns and worries.
Well for me apparently there are several things that are my concerns about my future but I'm going to talk about three of it.
So as you scroll through don't take it personal if some of mine doesn't fit yours.
Lifetime Financial Security:
The world we all live in today is becoming tougher with most counties giving strict financial rules that affect the citizens of the country. The global economy meltdown, the increase in downsizing in various companies including the big guys. And as a human that I am, this worries me a lot. Because I don't want to wake up one day and find myself in-between the claws of this harsh reality. And it chokes me so bad that I have to start from the genesis of my life because one government policy or company loss affected me so bad.
I don't want to be the old man that can't afford to pay his bills or take good care of his health or can't afford to go on vacations to a place where only nature beckons because I've seen it all in my younger days to want just the peace and quiet that nature brings. No offense but I believe that at old age, one should be chilling on the rocking chair sipping on some real good wine bought from your retirement savings just outside your porch looking at your grandkids play around. Maybe I'm talking too much. I know that to achieve all these needs careful planning and preparation and that's what I'm doing at this age. So help me God.
Till death do us part..
You've read of my first concern, so quickly I'll dive into the next. Believe me, I'm a sucker for getting married and having a family. I can stop dreaming of closing off from work after a smart day's job and rushing home because I can't wait to be around my beautiful wife, kids. Yes, I'm a family guy.
But behind all those fantasies of mine lies the fear of going through a divorce. It is something that terrifies me. I understand that finding the right person is not easy and has never been, and also that risks that things might not work out well for you and your wife in the end. That terrifies me too.
But despite all these, I keep the hope alive that it's all gonna work out well for me. It's just a matter of communication and sacrifice in marriage.
Deadbeat Father
This is something I know that I can never let happen no matter what but what if?
What if I try my best but my financial capability at that point is not enough to give them the life they deserve or want and I'm tagged a deadbeat.
Or what if my second fear comes to pass and my wife turns them against me.
Or what if the problem is really gonna be from me, maybe a mistake I made at a young age comes hunting me and it affects my kids?.
I want to be able to give them the best possible start in life, just as my father did. Carry on that legacy. Provide things like good education, access to the best healthcare in my country and abroad, and a safe, nontoxic and stable environment for them to grow.
I might not be able to control everything because sometimes life just doesn't give you what you wish for. But I'm ready to do all it takes to grab that which I wish for. Because I deserve it, everyone does.
I'm resilient. I'm determined.
