Visitando el parque Minas de Aroa, Yaracuy, Venezuela 🇻🇪❤️ [esp/eng]

Mi año ha comenzado con una aventura emocionantes que deseaba desde hace mucho y quiero compartirlas con ustedes, hoy quiero contarles de un paseo que tuvimos a una pequeño pueblito de un Estado vecino de mi ciudad natal, se trata de Aroa, una pequeña población ubicada en el Estado Yaracuy en Venezuela, exactamente visitamos las minas de Aroa, sitio turístico famoso de mi país, ven y te cuento de esta aventura:

My year has begun with an exciting adventure that I have long wanted and I want to share it with you, today I want to tell you about a trip we had to a small town in a neighboring state of my hometown, it is Aroa, a small town located in the Yaracuy State in Venezuela, exactly we visited the Aroa mines, a famous tourist site in my country, come and I will tell you about this adventure:

Mi aventura esta vez fue hacia un parque natural muy famoso de mi país, éste se llama Las minas de Aroa, desde hace mucho tiempo había tenido muchas ganas de conocer este lugar, A lo largo de mi vida había escuchado muchas historias interesantes y deseaba conocerlo personalmente y no por fotos como lo había visto anteriormente, este sitio representa un patrimonio histórico importante en el tema de minería de mi país, aparte de qué está ubicado en una zona natural con una biodiversidad fascinante.

Una de las historias más fascinantes que había escuchado de este sitio es que este representó una de las minas más importantes de mi país en la cual se extraía el cobre y otros minerales, y que estas estuvieron vinculadas a personajes históricos importantes de mi país, como Simón Bolívar, quien según las utilizó para financiar la Guerra de Independencia.

Hoy en día, las minas se encuentran en estado de abandono, pero por lo que pude darme cuenta personalmente se ve que han hecho un esfuerzo en mantener este sitio para el disfrute de los turistas y también de las personas que habitan cerca del lugar, la zona cuenta con una rica biodiversidad y una belleza paisajística que la convierten en un destino atractivo para el ecoturismo.

My adventure this time was to a very famous natural park in my country, it is called Las Minas de Aroa, for a long time I had wanted to visit this place, throughout my life I had heard many interesting stories and I wanted to see it personally and not through photos as I had seen before, this site represents an important historical heritage in the mining sector of my country, apart from the fact that it is located in a natural area with fascinating biodiversity.

One of the most fascinating stories I had heard about this site is that it represented one of the most important mines in my country in which copper and other minerals were extracted, and that these were linked to important historical figures of my country, such as Simon Bolivar, who reportedly used them to finance the War of Independence.

Today, the mines are in a state of abandonment, but from what I was able to see personally, it seems that they have made an effort to maintain this site for the enjoyment of tourists and also of the people who live near the place. The area has a rich biodiversity and a scenic beauty that make it an attractive destination for ecotourism.

Luego de tanto tiempo planificando este viaje al fin lo logramos, a pesar de qué está ubicado a tan sólo dos horas de mi ciudad nunca nos habíamos atrevido a ir a este sitio, para llegar a él desde mi ciudad Barquisimeto hay dos maneras, una es por la carretera de San Felipe, Pensé que por este lado era más lejos, así que decidi irme por la otra carretera, esta es llamada la vía a Duaca, un pequeño pueblo que está a una hora antes de llegar a Aroa

After so much time planning this trip we finally made it, even though it is located just two hours from my city we had never dared to go to this place, to get to it from my city Barquisimeto there are two ways, one is by the San Felipe highway, I thought that this way was further, so I decided to go by the other road, this is called the road to Duaca, a small town that is an hour before reaching Aroa.

Y efectivamente es mucho más cerca por esta carretera pero la gran diferencia es que ésta, está muy deteriorada así que hay que ir con mucha precaución quizás el trayecto puede ser más corto si estuviera en mejores condiciones, pero tristemente a esta carretera no le prestan mucha atención los entes gubernamentales, bueno eso es otro tema.

Lo más satisfactorio es que toda esta carretera es de un color verde brillante, ya que toda su vegetación es muy hermosa, es algo que complace la vista a pesar de los contratiempos de andar esquivando huecos, ja ja, otra de las ventajas es que no viaja mucha gente por esta zona así que puedes esquivar los huecos tranquilamente y disfrutar de los paisajes que te conseguirás a lo largo del camino .

And indeed it is much closer by this road but the big difference is that this one is very deteriorated so you have to be very careful, perhaps the journey could be shorter if it were in better condition, but sadly this road is not paid much attention by government agencies, well that is another issue.

The most satisfying thing is that this whole road is a bright green colour, since all its vegetation is very beautiful, it is something that pleases the eye despite the setbacks of going around potholes, ha ha, another advantage is that not many people travel through this area so you can dodge the potholes calmly and enjoy the landscapes that you will find along the way.

En la vía al conseguir el aviso del cruce hacia el pueblo de Aroa ya sientes como te desconectas de la civilización y entras a una zona natural, a pesar de qué luego entras al pueblo el cual está bastante civilizado, sus calles y sus casas rurales te hacen sentir de qué de verdad estás en un sitio diferente.

Este es un pueblito muy completo aquí puedes encontrar estaciones de servicio para surtir de gasolina tu vehículo a pesar de qué en mi país aún existe muchos problemas con el combustible teniendo un poco de paciencia logras surtir, también encontrarás hoteles o posadas, abastos, bodegones, y todo lo que te puedas conseguir en una ciudad moderna, sólo que son locales muy pequeños.

On the road, when you get the sign for the crossing to the town of Aroa, you already feel like you are disconnecting from civilization and entering a natural area, even though later you enter the town which is quite civilized, its streets and rural houses make you feel that you are really in a different place.

This is a very complete town, here you can find service stations to fill up your vehicle with gasoline, even though in my country there are still many problems with fuel, if you have a little patience you can fill up, you will also find hotels or inns, grocery stores, taverns, and everything you can get in a modern city, only they are very small places.

luego de atravesar el pueblo llegas a la entrada de las minas de Aroa, tu vehículo lo tienes que dejar en la parte de afuera pero no debes preocuparte por la seguridad ya que allí están los guardaparques y ellos están pendientes de que todo fluya con normalidad, ellos te dan la bienvenida y por seguridad anotan los datos del conductor del vehículo o si vas en grupos el que esté al mando del grupo, esto es para llevar el control de las personas que entran al lugar.

After crossing the town you arrive at the entrance to the Aroa mines. You have to leave your vehicle outside, but you don't have to worry about safety, as the park rangers are there and they are there to make sure everything runs smoothly. They welcome you and, for safety reasons, they write down the details of the driver of the vehicle or, if you go in groups, the person in charge of the group. This is to keep track of the people who enter the place.

Desde que entras al lugar debes llevar tu teléfono o Camara en la mano ya que comienza a ver una gran cantidad de paisajes espectaculares y es inevitable tomar fotografías, empezando la caminata hay una casa grande en la que se muestra algunos objetos antiguos provenientes de las minas, seguido encontrarásun Marco de piedras mostrando el camino en bajada hacia uno de los primeros lugares del río en el que puedes disfrutar de un rico chapuzón.

From the moment you enter the place you must carry your phone or camera in your hand since you begin to see a large number of spectacular landscapes and it is inevitable to take photographs. At the beginning of the walk there is a large house in which some old objects from the mines are displayed, then you will find a stone frame showing the path down to one of the first places on the river where you can enjoy a nice dip.

Continuando el camino pasarás uno de los puentes de guerra, desde allí puedes observar lo hermoso del río y de todo el paisaje natural que hay al alrededor, te recomiendo llevar la memoria de tu teléfono vacía para que puedas guardar la cantidad de fotografías que vas a tomar, la vegetación de este lugar es fascinante, diversa y maravillosa, amo demasiado la naturaleza, y toda la caminata anduve fascinada.

Continuing along the path you will pass one of the war bridges, from there you can observe the beauty of the river and all the natural landscape around it, I recommend that you carry an empty memory on your phone so that you can save the amount of photographs that you are going to take, the vegetation of this place is fascinating, diverse and wonderful, I love nature too much, and I was fascinated the whole walk.

Este lugar es perfecto para hacer o practicar senderismo, esta caminata pensé que sería un poco más corta, pero se extendió por algunos minutos luego de una hora, en todo el camino para bajar a los ríos te encuentras senderos un poco complicados y en picada, pero nuestro interés era llegar hasta las ruinas de las minas, a lo largo del trayecto puedes encontrar varios puentes de guerra, este tipo de puentes metálicos, allí nos parábamos a tomar fotos ya que hay precipicios en los que observas el río en la parte más profunda.

This place is perfect for hiking, I thought this walk would be a little shorter, but it extended by a few minutes after an hour, all the way down to the rivers you find trails a little complicated and steep, but our interest was to get to the ruins of the mines, along the way you can find several war bridges, this type of metal bridges, there we stopped to take photos since there are precipices in which you can see the river in the deepest part.

En el lugar hay una gran variedad de árboles, entre ellos hay unos que hacen unas enredaderas que parecen tejidas por la mano del hombre, me gustaría conocer el nombre de estos árboles, para esto debo investigar un poco más, en uno de los tramos de la carretera me sentí como si estuviese en Australia ya que hay bastantes telas de araña que cubren la superficie de la montaña, también pudimos ver muchas especies de mariposas, estas es un poco difícil fotografiarlas pero si logré obtener imágenes de una de color negro con pequeños puntos azules la cual me pareció demasiado hermosa

In the place there is a great variety of trees, among them there are some that make vines that seem woven by the hand of man, I would like to know the name of these trees, for this I must investigate a little more, in one of the sections of the road I felt as if I were in Australia since there are quite a few spider webs that cover the surface of the mountain, we were also able to see many species of butterflies, these are a little difficult to photograph but I did manage to get images of a black one with small blue dots which seemed too beautiful to me.

Un poco antes de llegar a las minas hay una gran pared de piedra natural, la cual es fascinante verla, esta es como una gran pared de piedra, es bastante alta y muy hermosa, luego de pasar este gran trayecto caminas unos minutos más y lo primero que te consigues es una estructura metálica como especie de un galpón y maquinarias oxidadas y antiguas, aquí sentí mucha emoción y alegría de saber que ya habíamos llegado a la parte donde están las minas.

En este trayecto culmina la carretera asfaltada con un gran puente bastante alto en el cual en la parte de abajo puedes ver el río, y las ruinas de lo que alguna vez fueron las minas de Aroa, primero fuimos a explorar la parte donde está la entrada tapiada de las minas, allí puedes ver cómo sale el agua con sedimentos de color naranja y todo el fondo del canal por donde circula el agua se tiñe de este color.

El río también tiene gran parte pintada en este hermoso color naranja, supongo que son los sedimentos de los minerales que se extraían de esta mina, la entrada hacia estas minas está completamente tapada, no sé si en años anteriores estuvo abierta pero me hubiese gustado mucho entrar a estas minas, luego de este camino hay otro camino de tierra en el cual se puede continuar pero en esta oportunidad llegaremos solo hasta aquí.

A little before reaching the mines there is a large natural stone wall, which is fascinating to see, it is like a large stone wall, it is quite high and very beautiful, after passing this long path you walk a few more minutes and the first thing you find is a metal structure like a kind of shed and rusty and old machinery, here I felt very excited and happy to know that we had already arrived at the part where the mines are.

On this path the paved road ends with a large, quite high bridge where at the bottom you can see the river, and the ruins of what were once the Aroa mines, first we went to explore the part where the walled entrance to the mines is, there you can see how the water comes out with orange sediments and the entire bottom of the channel where the water flows is dyed this color.

The river is also largely painted in this beautiful orange color, I suppose it is the sediments of the minerals that were extracted from this mine, the entrance to these mines is completely covered, I don't know if it was open in previous years but I would have really liked to enter these mines, after this path there is another dirt road which you can continue on but this time we will only get this far,

Por Momentos me daba cierto temor ya que no había mucha gente en el lugar, y el camino es muy solitario, pero me tranquilizó ver como los guardaparques dan rondas en sus motos por todo el lugar, aquí pude ver que este lugar es bastante seguro, mis hijas y yo bajamos hasta el río y no aguantamos la tentación y nos dimos un chapuzón, el agua es bastante fría y el río tiene muchas piedras así que les recomiendo usar zapatos para meterse dentro del río.

En cuanto a los alimentos es recomendable que vengas preparado y te traigas tu comida, también debes traer bastante agua ya que en el lugar no hay sitios en los que puedas comprar.

At times I was a little scared because there weren't many people there and the road is very lonely, but I was reassured to see how the park rangers on their motorcycles patrol the area. Here I could see that this place is quite safe. My daughters and I went down to the river and we couldn't resist the temptation and we took a dip. The water is quite cold and the river has a lot of stones so I recommend wearing shoes to get into the river.

As for food, it is recommended that you come prepared and bring your own food. You should also bring plenty of water since there are no places in the area where you can buy it.

Llevaba muchos años sin disfrutar de aventuras en la naturaleza como esta, me gustaría volver a repetir esta experiencia pronto y poder explorar un poco más allá de donde pudimos llegar, si alguna vez tienes la oportunidad de visitar este lugar te aseguro que lo pasarás muy bien, me despido por hoy deseándoles un montón de aventuras emocionantes y diversión junto a tus seres queridos, hasta otra oportunidad
