Loneliness flirted with me
when you first left.
While you stayed gone,
it became the little devil on my shoulder trying to convince me that l was
anything less than good for anyone.
Those were the moments when parts of me ached for acceptance,
the affirming touch of someone else. . .
but other parts of me reminded me that no one else will lay to rest those feelings;
only me, learning to be content on my own, will accomplish that
