The way I see it, almost nothing we see on TV or movies is really necessary; certainly not most sequels. But, as I often say, I'm easily entertained, and as long as I'm entertained I don't worry about the other stuff too much. After all, if you think about Zombieland too hard, you realize how many people died horribly to bring us that funny world!
