That's a different type of dislike, of the "you can't satisfy everyone" variety. All haters need to get a life, of course; but people who are just out looking for anything to hate on, rather than taking offense when their pet ideas are challenged, are an especially vicious kind of tick. It reminds me of the people who go on about Star Wars: "The whole franchise is ruined, the new movies are so terrible! All the characters suck, Disney ruined it, worse franchise of all time! And I should know--I saw the latest movie eighteen times."

Huh?

I'm quite sure Pilcher's detractors are much smaller in number than than the number of people who blindly hate pretty much any political figure you can name, but there's always going to be some hater who's gonna hate. The only real difference these days are that haters have a platform online from which they can hate anonymously.

Those people should consider the possibility that the films are very different from Pilcher's books, by the way. When it comes time to make a movie, the writer is always low man on the totem pole!
