Well, as a writer you step into the open, the view of the public, and there will always be some who "hate" you.
Remember the writer Rosamunde Pilcher that I mentioned some time before? And who, btw. recently died. She wrote romantic novels - lots of them - and sold millions of books plus the rights for dozens of TV films. A entire region, Cornwall in England, saw a boom in tourism because her stories are set there. So nothing controversial at all, really. And yet many didn't like her, because the films are kind of cheesy and predictable and you bump into them on german TV all the time. But I guess she could live with that, since she was a multimillionair and was way over 90 when she died.
