We lived that apocalypse.
This picture comes from my country. During the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia. It depicted the daily life of that time. People were doing their job and bombs were falling around. Because they had to eat, the army was doing its part of the job.
The NATO bombing of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (codename Operation Allied Force, often called "Merciful Angel" in Serbia) began on March 24, 1999 and lasted 78 days. Serbia and Montenegro made up Yugoslavia.
I guess that's where the experience of always being prepared for the worst came from.
