That's a connected pair of Dv 12's. The Dv 12 is a medium weight diesel-hydraulic locomotive used mainly used for shunting and pulling freight on unelectrified lines. They were built between 1963 and 1984 at Lokomo in Tampere, Finland. The oldest ones in use turn 57 years this year.
I've always loved heavy machinery. I've been told my first word was actually pakoputki which means exhaust pipe. I've been told I liked watching a bucket loader remove snow from a parking area in front of the building my parents and I was living when I was one year old. The exhaust flap that would go up when the driver hit the gas pedal was a joy for me to watch, I've been told.
Boxcars like that always invite graffiti "artists". I actually do not mind that much. A dead, featureless surface like that always inspires the human instinct for decoration.
I've never seen a train parked here for loading. The birch trees growing on the platform are telling.
A truck backed up into one of the platforms. The first time I ever see anything happen on it.
It left a trailer on it.
The engine is running.
So is this one. There is a driver inside.
Now he's coming back.
The locomotive makes for a beautiful background for the birches, doesn't it.
Revving the engine.
It has departed.
Bye bye.
