This is the actual radio and television mast in Tiirismaa, about 10 km to the west of Lahti. The ones you've seen in many of my pictures are the old masts near the city center. Because they're the landmarks of the city, the haven't been dismantled. The mast is on the highest point of the Salpausselkä I chain of eskers that runs across much of the southern half of the country, 223 m above sea level, which gives you and idea of how flat the country is. We're about 60 km from the nearest point of the Baltic sea.
The mast is 327 meters high and it is the tallest structure in the country.
I don't think I'm cut out for repairing those things. But fortunately I don't have to.
This satellite dish was near the gate. There's a tall fence around the place and camera surveillance everywhere.
