Most people must have heard of it by now. About 13 hours ago someone hacked the wrapped LEO contract and managed to get it to print very large quantities wLEO causing the liquidation of the ETH in the ETH pool. That ETH was stolen and the stolen ETH was then transferred to Binance. wLEO is now offline. LEO on Hive-Engine is completely safe.

Surprisingly, the price of LEO on Hive-Engine only dropped by a third on Hive-Engine. It did go down to about 10 cents at first but it recovered because many LeoFinance users saw this as a temporary setback and a buying opportunity instead of a show stopper. The price is being defended pretty well by people who want to grow their stake in LEO.

What I think is that getting to the bottom of what happened may take weeks. I also think this won't be the end of the expansion of LeoFinance into external exchanges be they centralized or decentralized or the growth of the ecosystem as a whole. A focused tokenized community talking about crypto and economics in general on Hive is simply too good a project not to succeed ultimately. It should be a complete no-brainer for people in crypto to talk crypto while earning crypto at it.

It's a good thing this happened this early. If 10 times or a 100 times more money had been lost in a hack the bad PR would've been much worse. Nobody's talking about this outside the community. I doubt everyone even on Hive has heard about this.
