This is one of my favorite sculptures at SFMOMA:
It's by Ruth Asawa; I was reminded of it because she was featured on the @womensart1 account on Twitter.. She and her family were interned during World War 2; afterwards she studied at the influential Black Mountain College--- a hub for 20th century contemporary art. Robert Rauschenberg, Cy Twombly, John Cage, Elaine de Kooning, Willem de Kooning, and Buckminster Fuller all spent time there.
