The room is lit with the light of dawn. There is a green L shaped couch next to a brown recliner. They both face the TV and they both have a distinct environment around them, different than the other. The couch slouches down from all the weight of the years, so much so that the pegs are no longer supporting the couch: it just pushes into the floor. There is no more fight, no more stability. In front of the couch there is a coffee table with beer bottles, romance novels, and tissues. A few blown tissues scattered on the floor, some half drank beer bottles, and the multitude of pages marked on the books lying on the table give this environment a scattered, lost, and sad vibration.
The recliner is leaned back like someone forgot to set it back into place when they got up. There is an IPad, IPhone, and IMac stacked orderly on the seat of the recliner. On the floor, there is a fifty-two ounce Styrofoam cup laying on its side with rudiments of an acidic green liquid. On the side of the cup are the words “SODA”. Running behind and on the side of the couch is a long extension cord that ends at the feet of the recliner. The end of the extension cord has three plugs ins that are occupied with the chargers of the electronics placed on the recliner. The recliners environment has a focal point being the electronics. Even though the recliner seems to be new the seat has definite imprints to show that the seat has been sat in for long amounts of time, giving the electronics a more sinister look as if they are keeping the seated trapped.
In the corner of the room right next to the window, where all the light comes through, is a padded chair that is occupied. On the floor is a glass of water and a stack of books. The environment is simple and mobile. There is a bag with living essentials on the other side of the chair. The corner of the room goes easily unnoticed when placed in the other two environments. The one seated seems self-sufficient, busy at work, and ready to move at any notice.
