What’s up!
This morning’s session at Mardyke Skatepark in Cork was one of those days that reminds you why skating is so addictive. The weather couldn’t have been much better, with blue skies, sunshine, and the park looking class. Everyone was in a good mood, just skating, having a laugh, and pushing themselves to land something new.
The photos capture loads of different moments from the session. There are some nice transition tricks, a few slash grinds, and some clean lip tricks. You can really see the effort that goes into every attempt. Some tricks came together first go, while others took a few tries, but that’s what skating is all about. You fall, you get back up, and eventually you roll away.
I like how the photos show different styles of skating too. Some people were skating the quarters and banks. Mardyke has a bit of everything, so everyone can find something they enjoy. Whether you’re into transition or street skating, there’s always something to session.
The camera angles make the tricks look even better. Some shots are taken really low to the ground, making the skaters look like they’re flying. The bright graffiti around the park also makes every photo pop. It gives the park loads of character and makes the action stand out even more.
One thing I always like about Mardyke is the atmosphere. It doesn’t matter if you’re landing big tricks or just learning to drop in, everyone is usually encouraging each other. There were skaters of all ages there this morning, from younger lads learning the basics to older skaters still ripping around the park. It’s a great place to improve and meet people who love skating as much as you do.
Looking through these photos brings back the feeling of the session. You can almost hear the wheels rolling over the concrete and the sound of boards popping. It’s cool to have moments like these captured because a good skate session doesn’t last forever, but the photos help you remember it.
Overall, it was a brilliant morning at Mardyke. Good weather, good people, and plenty of skating. Days like this remind me that skateboarding isn’t just about landing tricks—it’s about having fun, progressing at your own pace, and enjoying every session with your mates. Hopefully there’ll be plenty more mornings like this over the summer.
