I still remember when I was in my NSTP (National Service Training Program) class we went to a certain village who was affected by the Mt. Pinatubo eruption and lahar (lava/mud) and made a survey to those people in that area. I met 8 people and told me their stories, 8 different people, 8 different stories about their nightmare during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption.

June 1991, between morning and afternoon, surrounding became dark just like night. As my interviewee told me, they thought it was just an airplane who passed by the sun. After how many minutes, all clouds were covered by the dark, electrical supply shut down and began to the falling ash and after a minute a heavy rainfall comes, so the rain and ash were combined falling and caused it as a thick mud. All houses and cars are covered with ashes and it caused lahar. It damaged a lot of houses and roads. Many people were panic that time because the mud is traveling and flowing so fast and many provinces, especially in Pampanga were affected.

Agricultural land poultry and other business were lost. All roads are closed, stores are closed, no water and electrical supply, people are worrying and they don’t know what to do, all they did was prayed and believed in their faith.

Many people injured and died in different places, it was a nightmare for those people who survived. I’m not yet born at that time but I can feel the pain and sadness as I listen to their stories.

Peter 5:10
And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm, and steadfast.
