Have you ever had a black forest cake? The combination of chocolate and cherries is so unexpected and so well matched. This dessert is everything you love about Black Forest Cake in a boozy, pudding shot!
If you like other chocolate and fruit combinations (like raspberry + chocolate or pomegranate + chocolate) then you are going to love these Black Forest Pudding shots. Speaking of shots…you could make these kid-friendly by simply omitting the Bailey’s. Or for some extra cherry flavor, substitute it for tart cherry juice.
1 (3.8 oz) pkg. Devil's Food instant pudding mix
1 1/2 c. 2% or whole milk
1/3 c. Bailey's Chocolate Cherry liqueur
8 oz. tub whipped topping, thawed
1 (21 oz.) can cherry pie filling
In a large bowl, whisk together pudding mix and milk until thick and smooth. Add in the Bailey's and whisk until mixture is free of lumps and well-combined. Fold in whipped topping and combine until well incorporated. Allow to chill in freezer for 5-10 minutes.
Meanwhile, add a spoonful of cherry pie filling into the bottom of each shot glass.
Place pudding mix into a ziploc bag and cut off the corner. Pipe pudding using a swirl motion into each shot glass, stopping about 1/2 inch from the rim of shot glass.
Garnish each shot glass with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
