Yesterday, while waiting for the power to come back on, I watched something on my phone to keep from getting bored, so I’m sharing a review of the movie 2012. Released in 2009 with a runtime of 158 minutes, it is a science fiction film about a catastrophe that brings about the end of the world. Scientists discover that Earth is undergoing changes in its crust, as well as a rise in temperature that leads to a global collapse.
La inestabilidad de las placas tectónicas ha generado grandes terremotos sobre pasando los 9.5 hasta 10.9 en la escala de Richter afectando también la falla de San Andrés, esto generó catástrofes naturales como tsunamis que acabaron con ciudades enteras, lo que comenzó siendo una profecía para muchos se convirtió en la realidad, personas adineradas comenzaron a pagar puestos de millones de dólares para salvar su vida en construcciones enormes como un arca capaz de transportar tantos personas y animales.

Entre los personajes principales tenemos al geólogo Adrian Helmsley un científico que está al tanto de los acontecimientos que van a pasar en el mundo, para mí fué una persona noble ya que se preocupó por su familia, amigos y demás personas que corrían peligro mientras que otros solo pensaron en salvar su propia vida, esto es algo que podría ocurrir entre la desesperación y miedo de morir, el señor Jackson Curtis que trabaja como chofer e intenta salvar la vida de su familia, y Charlie Frost un alocado locutor que advierte el fin del mundo pero nadie cree en él, así que no estaba loco.
Among the main characters, we have geologist Adrian Helmsley, a scientist aware of the events about to unfold worldwide; to me, he was a noble person who cared about his family, friends, and others in danger—unlike those who thought only of saving their own lives, a reaction that is understandable amidst the desperation and fear of death. Then there is Mr. Jackson Curtis, a chauffeur trying to save his family, and Charlie Frost, an eccentric radio host who warns of the end of the world but is disbelieved by everyone—proving, in the end, that he wasn't crazy.
Miles de personas de diferentes religiones se reunieron a orar, recordando que en la biblia también está escrito el día del juicio final, una de las cosas que me gustó es que a pesar de que habían personas avariciosas, egoístas que solo pensaron en ellos, también estaban aquellas que tendieron la ayuda a las personas que estaban fuera del arca y que podían morir si no abría la compuerta, como el geólogo que hizo mención a la frase del libro de Jackson Curtis incluso los grandes líderes mundiales apoyaron la idea, salvar a la humanidad también sería parte de su legado.
Thousands of people from different faiths gathered to pray, mindful of the biblical account of Judgment Day. One aspect I appreciated was that, alongside the greedy and selfish individuals who thought only of themselves, there were others who reached out to help those stranded outside the ark—people who faced certain death unless the hatch was opened. This included the geologist who referenced a line from Jackson Curtis’s book; even world leaders supported the idea, recognizing that saving humanity would also be part of their legacy.
Lo que no me gustó es que los efectos especiales se notaban muy exagerados a como yo creería que sería el fin del mundo, la película tiene una duración larga y siento que tardaron mucho contando la historia de las vidas de los personajes principales, pero si es bien interesante y me gustaría que le echarás un vistazo a ver qué tal. What I didn't like was that the special effects seemed very exaggerated compared to how I imagine the end of the world would actually look; the movie is quite long, and I feel they spent too much time telling the backstories of the main characters.
