No, no, we have not finished talking about my trip to the Swedish region of Småland, I still have some stories to tell you about the men and women who made this part of the country so important in history of Swedish design.

And what better way to illustrate Swedish design than to talk about Bruno Mathsson! Born in Värnamo in 1907, he is a self-taught designer and architect, inspired by the functionalist movement. As a son, grandson and great-grandson cabinetmaker, it seemed obvious that Bruno is studying the functional abilities of wood. Thus the furniture he will create at the beginning will be a know mix of wood and curves. Then he turned to architecture and glass work in residential projects, eventually returning in the 1960s to designing furniture through tubular steel.

In short, you will understand, Bruno Mathsson marked his time and his creations have become classics of Scandinavian design. During my trip, I was doubly lucky, I first had the visit of the Bruno Mathsson Center by the brilliant journalist design, Hedvig Hedqvist then I could visit the house of Bruno Mathsson and his wife Karin, something extremely rare because the house can usually be seen only from the outside !! I propose you to discover in pictures some pieces of furniture of the designer and the interior of his house ... follow the guide!
