Hiroyuki Ogawa Architects renovated a small apartment in a reinforced concrete building in Tokyo, which can be divided into various spaces using sliding wooden screens.

Located in a residential area of Tokyo between Shibuya and Daikanyama, the small apartment is separated into two parts by a beautiful series of sliding wooden screens. One side of the apartment houses a large main living area with a generous ceiling height that can be used as a living room, a dining room or a bedroom. The other side is occupied by a master bathroom and a kitchen, which can be partially or completely separated from the main space by these sliding screens. A mezzanine was created above the main bathroom and kitchen in the dome-shaped part of the ceiling. The two large bay windows of the apartment let a lot of light into the main space and the bathroom. A palette of light tones decorates the walls, the ceiling and the floor.
