It might seem that a hot summer isn't a good time for the elderberry ear fungus, but under favorable conditions, with ample rainfall and adequate humidity, it can be observed almost any time of year.

The fungus is usually found on dead or dying elderberry trunks and branches, but this one has appeared on a living tree.

He chose a large crevice in a tree trunk as his site, where it's always damp and the sun only appears in the morning. The mushroom has a distinctive, cup-shaped, irregular shape, resembling an earlobe (hence the name). The mushroom is edible, with a cartilage-like consistency. However, it has no discernible taste or smell.

Another interesting tree mushroom found in the park is the soft-haired arboreal mushroom (Trametes pubescens), which grows on dead, often fallen, deciduous trees. It has a characteristic whitish color and is slightly pubescent. It grows in large clusters.
