This quarantine has made us re-invent ourselves in so many ways, I started to learn more about hydroponics, medicine, engineering and got more into science and experimentation overall.
I had this little project for a long time, and I finally started, the point of this experiment was to find out if I can cultivate flowers in water using my old aquarium.

Esta cuarentena nos ha hecho reinventarnos en muchos aspectos, por mi parte empecé a aprender más sobre hidroponía, medicina, ingeniería y me metí más en la ciencia y la experimentación en general.
Tenía este pequeño proyecto desde hace mucho tiempo, y por fin lo empecé, el objetivo de este experimento era averiguar si puedo cultivar flores en el agua utilizando mi viejo acuario.

What is aquaponics?

Aquaponics refers to a production system that mixes two techniques , aquaculture with hydroponics hereby the nutrient rich aquaculture water is fed to hydroponic grown plant, involving nitrifying bacteria for converting ammonia into nitrates, so this way you create a balanced ecosystem.

¿Qué es la acuaponía?

La acuaponía se refiere a un sistema de producción que mezcla dos técnicas , la acuicultura con la hidroponía por lo que el agua rica en nutrientes alimenta a la planta cultivada en hidroponía, con la participación de las bacterias nitrificantes para convertir el amoníaco en nitratos, por lo que de esta manera se crea un ecosistema equilibrado.

I have always loved plants, so the other day I was putting my Violets on water to have roots, it was a succes the roots were just fine but when I tried to xhange them into a pot theu started to dry, so my last chance to save thdm was putting them on my "intensive care unit" wich is my aquarium, so I did and they recovered so fast, theh were even more green than before wich means more healthy.

A few day days passed and the roots were developping fast and growing big, when after a few more days and a few little leaves started to appear, new sprouts!

So this experiment was a huge succes not only Im propagating fast my violet sprouts but I have now a few more fish friends thanks to the plants, what more can I ask?

You got to love nature, she is so giving just like a loving good mother really.

Materiales / Materials

To build this aquappnix system I used:>Para construir este sistema acuaponico use los siguientes materiales:
-Aquarium / Aquarium
-Water/ agua
-Nutrients for plants Nutrientes de plantas
-Food for fish/ comida de pescado
-Water pump / bomba de agua
-Plants
-Fishes

All I did was takin them out of the dirt and put them in water , easy as that, but the ca5ch is that the water has to be in the ph exact to be healthy to the roots to
Finally , I put my plants in some glass flower pots and put them in the living room with my bamboo and my full grown blooming african violet, so they can just chill, living and loving life. It looks nice and elegant.

Todo lo que hice fue sacarlas de la maceta y ponerlas al agua, es asi de simple, lo importante es tener el agua en un Ph neutro para que las raices asimilen el nuevo medio y se desarrollen facilmente.
Finalmente, puse a mis plantitas en la sala de estar en unos bonitos floreros transparentes junto a mi Bambú y mi violeta florida para que disfruten de la vida. Luce muy bonito y elegante.

The nature is so amazing, I was so focused on the plants that I didn't noticed that one of my female fishes give birth to other little ones who protected themselves hiding between leaves from other big fishes who always try to eat them.
I was so happy because its been a while since I have little ones in my fish tank.
This is a photography I took when they were a few minutes of being born, they were so little I had to use the macro option to take some pics.

La naturaleza es tan increíble, estaba tan concentrada en las plantas que no me di cuenta de que una de mis peces hembra daba a luz a otros pequeños que se protegían escondidos entre las hojas de otros peces grandes que siempre intentan comérselos.
Me alegré mucho porque hacía tiempo que no tenía pequeños en mi pecera.
Esta es una fotografía que tomé cuando estaban a pocos minutos de nacer, eran tan pequeños que tuve que usar la opción de macro para tomar algunas fotos.

Look how the roots has developped in the african violets with 33 days of exposure to the acuaponics system.

Miren como se derrollaron las raíces de las dos violeta africanas despues de 33 días de exposición al sistema de acuaponia.

So far this project is going fine, Im really happy with the results, now I have other little experiments in mind based on this one, but for now Im just experimenting.

This are the mother plants from wich I took the leaves, look how beautiful the genes ares, its gonna take some time to get to this size though.

Hasta ahora este proyecto va bien, estoy muy contento con los resultados, ahora tengo otros pequeños experimentos en mente basados en este, pero por ahora solo estoy experimentando.
