Fighting procrastination

They say that diets and exercises are started on Mondays, or so we try to convince those of us who have the bad habit of procrastinating, that is, postponing the tasks we have to do, leaving everything for later or never finishing what we started. I think that every time I have tried it, every Monday I propose a thousand things and on Tuesday I give up. Then I am left with that feeling of failure during the following days, realizing that I lost valuable time that I could have used for important things, like taking care of myself.

This time I broke with the dilemma, I did not start doing what I wanted to do on a Monday, but I went on a Friday night to run bike as I showed you days ago, but that was not enough, but on Saturday morning a friend invited me to go to a park to do dance therapy.

I got up at 5:30 am on a Saturday to go exercise, this is a milestone in my life! I have never done it in my 35 years of life and that day I broke with my negativity and procrastination, I remember thinking "if I have to do this, then I will do it early in the morning so there will be no time to make excuses", at 6:00 am I was on the street walking to the park with my friend and my daughter.

The day was cloudy, there was a cold breeze and it even rained, but it was fun, the teacher arrived shortly after and started a dance therapy class with aerobic exercises that little by little were challenging my endurance, I managed to do as many as I could, at times I stopped but the voice of the teacher, guiding a group of women who like me need physical activity, encouraged me to continue.

In the end I felt that I did better than I expected, I did a full hour of dance therapy, I laughed, I had fun and I felt fulfilled, what happiness to feel alive, active with energy and desire to continue. That day I didn't spend it complaining about pain or sleep, my body was awake.

I think that every time I myself put too high expectations on what I should do I see it so far away that in the end I do not get anything done, but I am breaking with that trend, I decided not to think too much about when it will take me to do this walk or this bike ride, just go and do it, the time and effort it costs me and only put my mind on the result, look for that feeling of satisfaction and achievement, to say "I beat myself".
