The Story of Two Gorgeous Girls in Aceh who Led Playing Lions
Two lions danced in the middle of crowded citizens and vehicles passing by. The sound of cymbals and gongs echoed from the direction of the market corner of China Town (Kampung Cina) on Jalan WR Supratman, Peunayong Banda Aceh. The barongsai attraction played by the Dragon Golden Barongsai group attracted the attention of the people.
From the group, it appeared that two teenage girls wore red hijab. They look good at making musical instruments to accompany the lion dance. Since Friday (16/2) morning they have been walking the Peunanyog area, entertaining the ethnic Chinese welcome the celebration of Lunar New Year.
The two girls are Ratih Purwasih (20) and Nabila Wulandari (18). They are not ethnic Chinese. Even so, both seem to join the spirit of enliven the Chinese New Year, although sweat moistened face. With a semringah face, every now and then both look at the visitors to give a smile......
Ratih recounted that he had joined in the lion dance team built by Yayasan Hakka Aceh or a society of ethnic Chinese community since 6 years ago.
