Simba is a poodle breed dog, medium, black in color and frizzy or curled fur as it is generally known. In eight days he turns eleven, he was born on November 19, 2010. Days after his birth a young, friend of the house came to my apartment with a shoebox and inside he brought a dog so small that it fit in a pocket. If, as you are reading, it was a ball of miniature hairs, we never imagined that it would grow so much and that, in addition, in its good times it became so fat and strong that it was difficult to carry it, today it is quite delicate of health, it has prostate cancer.

Simba es un perro de raza poodle, mediano, de color negro y pelaje encrespado o ensortijado como generalmente se le conoce. Dentro de ocho días cumple once años, nació el 19 de noviembre de 2010. Días después de su nacimiento un joven, amigo de la casa, llegó a mi apartamento con una caja de zapatos y dentro traía un perro tan pequeño que cabía en un bolsillo. Si, como usted lo está leyendo, era una bolita de pelos miniatura, nunca nos imaginamos que iba a crecer tanto y que, además, en sus buenos tiempos llegó a estar tan gordo y fuerte que era difícil cargarlo, hoy está bastante delicado de salud, tiene cáncer de próstata.

In the previous paragraph I mentioned that Simba was so small that it fit in a pocket and so it was. En el párrafo anterior mencioné que Simba era tan pequeño que cabía en un bolsillo y así fue. Resulta que el joven amigo que lo llevó a mi apartamento lo hizo para esconderlo porque iba a ser una sorpresa, como de hecho lo fue, un regalo inesperado para su bella novia, mi vecina Enma; quien llegó sin avisar y al ver que su novio estaba en mi apartamento entró a saludar y en ese preciso momento, otro vecino, Héctor, agarró al perro en su mano y lo escondió dentro del bolsillo de su mono deportivo para que Enma no lo viera. Por poco la novia descubre el hermoso regalo antes de tiempo. Al rato la pareja se marchó y mi esposa y yo le preparámos una fórmula láctea y con una inyectadora lo fuimos alimentando hasta que Angelo, el novio de mi vecina, regresó a buscarlo para darle la sorpresa a su novia.

Simba, like all dogs of Poodle breed or poodle, in this case medium, was always scandalous, active, very dynamic and playful but with an antagonistic meekness to his strong barks, a very intelligent, sociable and happy dog, very loved by his owner and by the whole family, in fact, as the young Enma had to spend a lot of time at the University, student of Dentistry of the "House that Overcomes the Shadows", as the phrase that begins the second stanza of the hymn of the Central University of Venezuela says; his mother, our beloved neighbor Elvira, took care of him and pampered him so much that he feels like a son, such have been his heartfelt words.

Simba, como todos los perros de raza Caniche o poodle, en este caso mediano, siempre fue escandaloso, activo, muy dinámico y juguetón pero con una mansedumbre antagónica a sus fuertes ladridos, un perro muy inteligente, sociable y feliz, muy querido por su dueña y por toda la familia, de hecho, como la joven Enma tenía que pasar mucho tiempo en la Universidad, estudiante de Odontología de la "Casa que Vence las Sombras", como dice la frase que da inicio a la segunda estrofa del himno de la Universidad Central de Venezuela; su mamá, nuestra querida vecina Elvira, se encargó de cuidarlo y de consentirlo tanto que lo siente como un hijo, tal han sido sus sentidas palabras.

Today, sadly, Simba is suffering, he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. His health has been deteriorating rapidly, it is difficult for him to urinate and defecate, he suffers a lot and none of the neighbors like to see him like that. The Mogollón Hernández family has done everything in their power to prolong his life, they have looked for the best veterinarians in the area and have given him all his medicines and care that merits such a terrible disease, but the recommendation is to put him to sleep so that he does not continue to suffer. I feel quite moved because I love Simba very much, but to see him sad and suffering is terrible. So far he is still struggling. It will dawn and we will see and let it be what God wants! Hoy, lamentablemente, Simba está sufriendo, fue diagnosticado con cáncer en la próstata. Su salud ha venido desmejorando rápidamente, le cuesta orinar y defecar, sufre mucho y a ninguno de los vecinos nos gusta verlo así. La familia Mogollón Hernández ha hecho todo lo que está en sus manos para prolongarle la vida, le han buscado los mejores veterinarios de la zona y le han dado todos sus medicamentos y cuidados que amerita tan terrible enfermedad, pero la recomendación es dormirlo para que no siga sufriendo. Yo me siento bastante conmovido porque se lo mucho que quieren a Simba, pero verlo triste y sufriendo es terrible. Hasta ahora sigue batallando. ¡Amanecerá y veremos y que sea lo que Dios quiera!
