The Internet is a fun place. Streaming videos, playing video games, browsing social media, downloading pirated software, entering sketchy websites. Oh, it seems like I have said things that really attracts hackers. The theme I'm going to be discussing today is all about hackers. I'm pretty confident that 90% of the people who has access to internet is already familar with the word hacking. As a kid born in the 2000's, you may have seen a very cool advertisement and let's be realistic you may have seen some "naughty" ads that piqued your curiousity and maybe pressed them by "accident". It leads you to a website that says you won an Iphone or cash or something that seems too good to be true. I can't blame you for believing that because most of us were naive at one point in our lives. But that naiveness could cause us to get hacked, and it is a very expensive mistake to make and that's why being informed of the not to do's before browsing the internet is crucial. While the internet may seem like a fun place to get lost into, going in blind and not knowing its dangers is not good and hence I'm here to discuss on tips of how to not get hacked or something like that.
The most basic thing you must do is get yourself a decent anti-virus software, and none of that who brings many ads. I also advise you to use strong passwords and never repeat them for every password asking website because chances are if that password is taken by hackers, believe me it will turn into a domino game. For gamers out there, I know the prices are insane in the game market out there but don't resort to pirated software unless you know what you're doing. Most pirated games contain viruses such as malware, trojan, and ransomware.
Next is don't use an easily guessed email. Emails which contain your [email protected] format because this will give the hackers an easy time to guess who you are on social media sites and may try to threaten you or other malicious things. When using the social media, don't broadcast into the world everything that happens to your life and for the love of god, never accept friend requests from strangers. Be also wary from friends asking you to click into a link that is suspicious. Be also careful in sharing your birthdate or any bank info to verify accounts or lost passwords. For your phone, always lock your phone too and put a fingerprint recognition, secure pin, and a unique gesture. And never ever connect to free wifi's in public, this is one of the most danger you could get into.
I once got hacked when I was a kid and I got off light because there wasn't much important stuff in the computer but the hardware really suffered. I'm sharing to you everything based on my experience on the internet so you don't have to encounter stuff like that. With that in mind, always practice safe behavior in the Internet and be wary of suspicious links and emails and have fun!
