I have a soft and comfy beach dress, which used to have a string at the top edge of the V-neck where I could tie a ribbon, just to keep the V-neck in place. But a few months back, the string broke (does string break? I was trying to figure out which word to use but no right word popped into my mind).
This caused the V-neck to look pretty sluggish:
I liked having that string and was wondering how to put the string back there. I could sew a string each to the inner side of the V-neck's top edge but I was thinking more of a shoelace weave around the V-neck too.
So, I started thinking about sewing on a string holder or brackets all around the edges of the V-neck:
Then, it was a question of whether I wanted the string holder or brackets to be seen or not to be seen, i.e. do I sew at the wrong side or the right side of the dress. I decided that I would hide the string until the top edge where I would sew it at the outer side of the dress, so that I can tie a ribbon there:
Then, I realised the V-neck has stitches that I can use as guide. Yippy!
I used 4 stitches as a guide to sew along the V-neck because the width of my string and ribbons are about there..
And the sewing begins...
Double check the width as I sew...
I sewed two rounds to make the stitches sturdier.
Once the sewing is done, the fun part of weaving starts...
Just weave like how you do with your shoelaces or you can go crazy and weave something more sophisticated or go simple and sexy by skipping a bracket at each row.
Voila!
And I am off to work this on another blouse with wide V-neckline!

A normal day of walking around the house, working on chores, walking to the car and back and forth and back and forth. I was a chauffeur and a mall guide today, and in between, picked up a parcel.
