In the 6th century BC, after the Persian Empire destroyed the kingdom of Lydia, Sakarya became the control by the Persians. Later, Sakarya was conquered by Alexander the Great. After the death of the great Isknder, the kingdom of Bithynia declared its independence and conquered Sakarya.
Sakarya was later conquered by the Roman state. After the division of the Roman state, Sakarya was ruled by the Byzantine empire. At that time, the Sassanids and Arabs attacked Sakarya many times.
