Saturninus was the Syria governor. But the Roman soldiers in Syria proposed that Saturninus be an emperor. Saturninus rejected this proposal. But the people of Syria also wanted Saturninus to be an emperor. Saturninus then declared himself a Roman emperor. But the Syrian soldiers left Saturninus unsupported. And in 280, Saturninus was killed by his own soldiers.
