In the 14th century BC, the Gaska community first lived in Bartın. B.C. In the 13th century, Bartin was conquered by the Hittites.
After the Hittites, Bartin was ruled by the kingdom of Bithynia. But many kingdoms tried to conquer Bartın. The Bartin were conquered by the Phrygian, Kimmer, Lydian and Persian states, respectively. Persians led Bartin for a long time. But when the Persians, been defeated by the Alexander the Great, the Persians left Bartın.
In 279 BC, Bartin was conquered by the kingdom of Pontus. In 70, the Romans conquered Bartin by defeating the kingdom of the Pontus. In later years, the Arabs, Turks and Russians have conquered Bartin many times. In 1392, Bartin was conquered by the Ottoman Empire.
After the breakup of the Ottoman Empire, Bart, it has been a district of the Republic of Turkey. In 1991 with the law, Bartın has been as a province.
