According to researches, the communities first started to live in Antalya in the Old Stone Age. During Stone Age and Middle Stone Age, the communities lived in Antalya and its surroundings. Antalya was first used by the Hittite kingdom as a city. In later years, Lycia and Pamphylia kingdoms conquered Antalya.
In later years, Antalya became a city of the Roman Empire. Many states have tried to conquer Antalya but have failed. And Antalya has been a city of Roman and Byzantine empires for many years.
In the 11th century, Antalya was conquered by the Turks. And Antalya has changed hands among the Turkish states since then. In 1502, Antalya was conquered by the Ottoman empire. And after the disintegration of the Ottoman Empire, Antalya has been a city of the Republic of Turkey.
