I just finished a 11.076km running that lasted about 0hh:48mm:16ss !
Oops, I did it again... Finished this run in complete darkness. Every damn time! At least, I was able to run a little more. With about 6.9 miles, it's actually my longest this year. Yes, for various reasons, including strong laziness, it was a slow year, running-wise...
I switched it up a bit for the route. Even though I've walked my dog (dogs now) in the woods nearby almost every day for years, it somehow never occurred to me that I could also run there. So, today, I tried adding a short loop inside the woods, and it was lots of fun. There are tons of tree roots on the path, and it requires to pay attention, but it looks much better than the side of a street. It clearly reminded me I should dust off my old trail running shoes and find some good trails in the area. I quickly went back on the roads though because darkness was falling upon me, and visibility is clearly a must on this terrain.
As for speed, it could have been better. Something is not 100% with my calves. Maybe I should think about doing a better job stretching. Should be pretty easy as it's been months since I stretched... They were stiff right from the start, and I could feel them finally starting to loosen up after more than 3 miles. By then, I was starting to feel tired already. I was hoping to get a second wind after mile 5 or so but it didn't happen and my pace dropped for the last 3 miles. If it wasn't for the final mini-sprint, my average would have ended up slower than 7 minutes a mile, and that would have been disappointing. At least, I know I still have some work to do!
Thanks for stopping by and keep exhausting!
