Hey Actifitters,

Yesterday was the big race day, Detroit half marathon. Getting up after just a couple hours of sleep, and getting ready to run was definitely not fun. I think my furry friends agreed. When you switch on the lights at 5am on one of the rare nights she decided to sleep inside, this is the face you get from Le Chat...

Not much better from Kaia, '5 more minutes...'

Anyways I got ready and even if I started driving from home a bit later than planned, I still had plenty of time before the race start at 7am (seriously why can't it be at like 5pm or something...). Or so I thought! That was without factoring in the fact my GPS got me stuck in the streets that were closed for the race! I think I don't stress out easily, but after dozens of loops around, and U turns trying to reach the parking structure I had in mind, I was starting to. In the end, I lucked out and found a completely different parking lot that was both closer and much cheaper. And the starting line was very easy to reach, just straight down one of the major avenues. It was late though. Luckily the race starts in wave and after I walked to the starting line, I just joined one of the later waves. Details about the race itself will be in my Exhaust post whenever I take the time to write it. But let's just say that even though it was my worst time ever in a half marathon, it wasn't as bad as I thought. In fact, considering my current form and the conditions, it was really better than expected. Here's the finish line the day before.

Since the race was so early, I was back home at a time where I usually still sleep! The sun wasn't even high in the sky yet!

But it was a good light for the fall colors in the yard across the street.

After all the rain from the day before, it was nice to see a bit of sun.

Kaia was now very awake, so even though I just wanted to crash on the couch and rest, we had to walk around the yard for a while.

In the afternoon, I watched the rugby World Cup quarter final France vs South Africa. Such a great game! I was disappointed by the final result of course, but so intense! Till the very last minute. Very unfortunate for this very talented French team though. Again, I wanted to rest but it was time for another patrol. Kaia doesn't care about my tired legs!

Just before I brought Kaia back inside, I noticed something moving just behind the fence. I went to check it out. This deer was looking at me very aggressively. It was stomping its feet, as though it was going to attack me! It was confirmed by the hisses it made. I didn't want to risk it and just left it alone.

We finished the day with some lazy time in front of the TV, finally... Surprisingly I wasn't very sore, but soreness will probably arrive the next days.
As always, thanks for stopping by and see you tomorrow.

PS: I know I don't even need it for #poprzeczka, but I still want to share my Samsung Health step count. 40k doesn't happen so often these days for me. And 28k before 10am!
