La Basílica Menor Santuario Nacional "Nuestra Señora de Coromoto" está construido en el lugar de la segunda aparición de la Virgen al indio Coromoto en 1652, a unos 25 kilómetros de la ciudad de Guanare, en el estado Portuguesa.

El proyecto sería elaborado por el arquitecto venezolano Erasmo Calvani en 1975, pero no sería hasta principios de 1980 que se iniciaran los trabajos, los cuales se vieron interrumpidos en varias ocasiones, siendo finalmente consagrada el 7 de enero de 1996 e inaugurada con una misa del entonces Papa San Juan Pablo II el 10 de febrero de ese año, en presencia de más de dos millones de fieles.

El templo es un poco más pequeño que la Basílica de San Pedro en la Ciudad del Vaticano, con una capacidad para albergar a unas 2.500 personas en su interior, y a más de 50.000 en la plaza de Espigas, ubicada en las afueras. En su interior se encuentran tres altares, uno en cada nave lateral y en el Centro su altar mayor, detrás del cual se encuentra el Trono de la Virgen donde se observa la reliquia de la Virgen de Coromoto que se le apareciera al indio aquel sábado 8 de septiembre de 1652. Esta imagen se materializaría en una estampilla hecha de fibra de árbol y que hoy se venera en esta hermosa e imponente estructura, construida con esta finalidad.

Esta fotografía que forma parte de mi archivo personal, la tomé un par de años atrás durante un paseo realizado al vecino estado Portuguesa en compañía de mi pareja, y el cual comprendió, además del Santuario Nacional los sembradíos de girasoles ubicados en la Autopista General José Antonio Páez, en las afueras de la ciudad de Araure.

La imagen la intervine haciendo uso de los filtros y herramientas de edición que proporciona PicsArt, para lo cual empleé en primer lugar un filtro del tipo HDR (High Dynamic Range) con la finalidad de ampliar los tonos de la fotografía original, y luego, un filtro sencillo de Blanco & Negro.

The Minor Basilica National Shrine of "Our Lady of Coromoto" is built in the place of the second apparition of the Virgin to the Indian Coromoto in 1652, about 25 kilometers from the city of Guanare, in the Portuguesa state.

The temple is a little smaller than the Basilica of San Pedro in the Vatican City, with a capacity to accommodate some 2,500 people inside, and more than 50,000 in the Plaza de Espigas, located in the outskirts. In its interior there are three altars, one in each lateral nave and in the Center its main altar, behind which is the Virgin's Throne where we can see the relic of the Virgin of Coromoto that appeared to the Indian that Saturday 8 September 1652. This image would materialize in a stamp made of tree fiber and that today is venerated in this beautiful and imposing structure, built for this purpose.

This photograph that is part of my personal file, I took a couple of years ago during a trip to the neighboring Portuguesa state in the company of my girl friend, and which included, in addition to the National Shrine. the sunflowers fields located on the "General José Antonio Páez" Highway, on the outskirts of the city of Araure.

I intervened using the filters and editing tools provided by PicsArt, for which I first used a HDR (High Dynamic Range) filter in order to expand the tones of the original photograph, and then, a simple Black & White filter.
