Happy New Dystopian...I mean Happy New Year. Ut's all fine. We're not being crushed under concrete or choked by dust, yet, are we?

It was on an early December morning, winter but not quite. Foggy. Such was this Christmas in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital and only city above 1 000 000. I guess it's about 2 500 000 now. Or nearly half the population of the country.

We love seeing the air we smoke...I mean...breathe. Powered by powerful economic factors.

And...factories...

...and looking south-west.

And that was not the New Year's Eve, yet, with all the gunpowder, solid, visible sound residue, etc. Well, part of Sofia's unfortunate circumstances are the geographical realities in the area. The city is in something like a natural bowl with cold pressing down and often fogs, along with dust and other dirty fine but not so fine particles, too.

Having walked a lot through the city during the holidays, I could say that the air was not in a way that I could sense it dirty or smelly. Except for the steams rising from each and every sewer orifice. Down in the sewers things smell bad, I guess in general, but due to them being warmer than the air outside, they come up in winter and make your sidewalk experience...much less pleasant.

Blade Runner and other such visual sneak peaks into the future did not tell us about the stench of the dark dystopian atmosphere. We should be able to guess it on our own.

Peace!
