Sometimes I ask myself what’s the point of it all. We wake up every morning go to work or school doing the same shit day in day out like were supposed to. Why do we do this, could it be hope, hope that someday somehow things would be better? What is “better” anyway? All I see today is misery, misery everywhere, in the eyes of the taxi driver, in the faces of the people walking down the street, in the voice of the bank clerk, even in myself.
Sometimes I wonder how we got here, a wise man once said the definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly and expecting different results. So perhaps we are all insane this will certainly explain a lot but how can this be, this “insanity” cannot be observed in any one individual not until he becomes a part of the “group” I will call this group the Metropolitan Mind think of it as a amalgamation of loosely held beliefs, practices, ideas, concepts and principles that serve as the driving force or motivation for life for most people today. I remember when I was just a child bustling with wonder and creativity and free from the influence of the Metro Mind but unfortunately, we all get indoctrinated through repeated advertisements on the television, the preferences of those we hold in high esteem, family and friends and schools into a life of subservience, into the Metropolitan Mind.
“Madness in individuals is rare but in groups, parties, nations and epochs, it is the norm” – Fredrich Nietzsche
Pure madness, this is the most accurate description of the metro mind. The philosophy of more, more, more, the concept of insatiable want none of it is practical, none of it is real yet we continue to chase the unattainable, we continue to grasp at pure wind hoping for something tangible. What is the outcome? Yes misery, a feeling of emptiness and ultimately a depressed individual and a depraved, neurotic society.
