Fires and decomposition are a naturally occurring process that improve the health of a forest, when the forest burns down it provides nutrients for the seeds lying in wait. Decomposition recycles nutrients. Carbon offsetting with trees imo isnt a good thing because the entire reason we are talking about climate change solutions is to stop using fossil fuels, not offset the emissions. Using trees to offset your emissions has a neutral effect, it doesnt add more carbon or remove more carbon.
i said carbon instead of co2
everytime i said carbon pretend i said co2 lol i dont feel like editing it
Here in california fires play a role in tree reproduction so they shouldnt always be prevented, instead they are allowed as controlled fires.
as specific are of land is allowed to or intentionally set on fire to help improve the health of a forest
Carbon offsetting is needed in some areas where we just cant replace fossil fuels like plastic production
plastics are an everyday part of our life but we need fossil fuels to make them and there isnt any good alternatives yet. So carbon offsetting is a good idea (the same cant be said for a fossil fuel industry)
