Hey there, Hive!✨
¡Hola, Hive!✨
Once again, this initiative proposes interesting topics for reflection that really make you think. Although some of them may be a bit complicated due to the emotions they evoke, the truth is that it is necessary to face them even if they hurt.
Today I will talk to you about precisely that, about facing the pain to finally let it go...
That God don't have a sense of humor
When I think about "letting go" a song by Hayley Williams always comes to mind. It talks about depression, how it affects your life, grief, and everything that these things entail. It's slow, sad, beautiful, and I think it perfectly describes the loss of something, not only through death but things that just end. A relationship, a stage, a project, or even a dream. Sometimes things aren't meant to last too long.
The thing is, it hurts. Losing or leaving behind some aspect of our lives can seriously affect us emotionally because if it really mattered to you, it's going to hurt. It's hard to accept, it's sad, and it takes a lot of effort to turn the page to move on, but it's necessary to be able to improve.
That grieving process has happened to me in different circumstances, all of them difficult and painful. Sometimes it seems like a stage that you won't be able to overcome, falling into despair. But then everything passes. Time takes away the tears and heals the wounds.
But healing doesn't mean they don't leave scars. Memories also hurt and that's why the process of "letting go" or getting over something isn't as easy as it seems. Right now in my life I've had to face certain things that have forced me (whether I want to or not) to let go, to stop holding on, to change certain things to be okay. And even knowing that it's something I have to do for my own well-being, feelings of selfishness and guilt stick to me. It's hard to understand that there are things that don't work and that no matter how much you want them, they just don't do you any good.
You have to understand that you won't always be able to achieve everything, you shouldn't always give in, there are thousands of expectations that you won't meet, a lot of things that you won't be able to do, and even though it hurts, that brings you back to reality... By connecting with that, you start to do things that truly favor you, thinking about yourself and not about what others expect of you, or about expectations that were imposed rather than being actually yours.
Perhaps one of the things that hurts the most is letting go of love. Not only romantic love but also love for a friend, a family member, a pet or love for something you are passionate about. In life you will love a lot, in different ways and with different intensity, but also that love will sooner or later go away forever.
Just because you know from the beginning that something will end at some point does not mean that it is not worth it, on the contrary. Take advantage of loving as much as you can for as long as it lasts, give everything of yourself for that person, that project, that dream, and when it ends you will have the satisfaction of thinking about what you lived, of knowing that you gave the best of yourself and that something remained from the experience that will make you grow as a person, for better or worse.
We are all destined to love, to desire, to be happy, to live, to suffer, to cry, to lose. Some more than others, but it is almost a law of life. When you accept that, you begin to see your world in a different way, appreciating both what you have and what you don't, knowing that all of that makes you the person you are now. Not stronger or weaker; you are simply you...
You best prepare to grieve
Let it enter your open heart
Then prepare to let it leave
