Then, all the things you want men to do with you, so do you with them; because this is the law and the prophets (NIV Matthew 7:12).
Compliance with the law and the prophets focused on two relevant aspects:
- Love God above all things.
- You love your neighbor as yourself.
You cannot love your neighbor if you do not love yourself first. That is, if you do not appreciate yourself and value yourself as a person and human being, you cannot give to another what is really not in you. When the person accepts himself and has a good concept of himself, he can accept the other person and respect him, as well as forgive his offenses.
Every human being needs to be respected, to be accepted in the conditions in which God brought him to this world and, above all, to value and esteem him.
Now, if you want to be respected, start respecting. If you want to be well treated, treat others well. "Then, all the things that you want men to do with you, you also do with them ..." (Matthew 7:12).
This is my brief reflection on today's word of the majestic Goldencenser.
