God works according to his perfect will for his children. He can use whomever He considers to help any of his children in a very particular way. We see this in Paul's life, after his experience on the road to Damascus, he needed to be guided. The Lord could have sent an angel to do it, but instead sent Ananias to counsel Paul and pray with him. In the same way, God can send several people with whom we can share our problems and pray. It can be a pastor, a doctor or a Christian counselor. When we have a broken leg, we do not hesitate to see a competent doctor. In the same way, when we have damaged emotions, or consider that we cannot bear the negative feelings of our past, we should not hesitate to seek professional help. In response to our prayers made with faith, God will lead us to someone who can guide us.
Sometimes, that help can come in the person of friends with similar problems that are found to share their concerns and pray for others.
Confess your offenses to each other, and pray for each other, so that you can be cured. The effective prayer of the righteous can do much (James 5:16).
My friend Clara is a person who has experienced the mood that comes from communion with other equally distressed parents. After having met weekly for four years to share ideas, study the Bible and pray with two other ladies, he testified how that communion had helped him live in the midst of despair and shame caused by his rebellious children.
He told them: "I don't think it is humanly possible to fight only with a child who is on probation and methadone treatment to overcome his heroin addiction. Without his support and concern, without his will and ability demonstrated by you to feel with I would have had a nervous breakdown. Our communion and fellowship has been the reason I am alive. "
Ask God today to help you find one or two special people capable of sharing your concerns for your rebellious children.
