This is South Africa's most valuable snake. The Brown House Snake. We call it our most valuable snake because it can help us humans save a lot of money and not because you can sell it for money. In fact, it is protected and it is illegal to catch or sell it in South Africa!
Rats cause $ millions damage each year and this harmless snake eats plenty of rats.
In all of our educational talks - we shear this message and encourage people not to kill this snake.
In this picture my 6 year old daughter is holding a Brown House Snake to demonstrate that it is completely harmless.
